Our little jumper

Mady absolutely LOVES being in her jumper.  It's great that it's in the kitchen so I can cook dinner while Mady enjoys jumping.  She definitely didn't get her jumping skills from the Ellis side of my family...

Pictures from the week

Mady and Lexi are becoming close friends!  Mady is now realizing when Lexi walks by and smiles at her and reaches her hand out to play or get licked!

SOOO BIG!  I'm a big 14 pounder now!

Still so happy!  Although our first tooth this week is putting our happiness to the test:-)

Figuring out the Bumbo...Mady still falls forward in it but she's learning how to use it.

Adventures in Baby Food Making

As you know from this post, I love to save money. So when Mady started eating solid foods and I started to notice the prices of baby food in the store, I about had a stroke.  I mean seriously...$1.00 for 1 little container of food that will last maybe 2 meals?  You've got to be kidding me.  So like I always do, I hit the internet to learn how to make it myself.  I found this website right away.  It is AMAZING!  It literally tells you everything you need to know.  A quick trip to the grocery store to pick up veggies, fruits, and ice cube trays plus a $3.00 blender I found at a garage sale and I was ready to go!

So far I've made sweet potatoes, pears, and squash.  I know you working moms are probably saying that it's too much work but it really isn't.  Plus you make a ton of it and freeze it so you don't have to make it all the time.

Here's a little example of the cost savings you'll have...
I bought 2 sweet potatoes that cost me $1.98 total.  I made approx. 48 ice cube sized portions.  Considering that Mady eats 2 ice cubes a day...that's 24 days worth of food!  Ok so now think about how much that would cost if you bought all that food....24 divided by 2 (because I think you can get 2 servings out of those tiny containers) is 12.   12 dollars for 24 days!  Yikes!  The math is making my head hurt...
You should definitely think about it.  This little girl is sure loving it!

First Mother's Day

Last year on Mother's day, I was in my first trimester of pregnancy.  I was telling Jeremy that I remember that I didn't go to church that day with him and his parents because I wasn't feeling so great.
This year on Mother's day, I got to enjoy the blessing of my little girl that made all that sickness, tiredness, and just not feeling so great moments of pregnancy totally worth it.

I love being Mady's mom and I so enjoy staying home with her.

Sure, I do miss teaching and caring for the 20 or so students in my class each year.  And yes, I don't always enjoy the days that Mady decides that naps are overrated.  But I wouldn't change it for the world.

On this Mother's day, I am celebrating my little girl and thanking God for her.

5 Things...

In honor of Mady turning 5 months on Monday, I am posting 5 favorite things about my little girl.  It was definitely hard to narrow it down, but in no particular order, here they are.

1. I LOVE Mady's sweet giggle.  She giggles and laughs the most when we play "Patty Cake" as seen in this video. Whenever she laughs, I can't help but laugh with her!  It definitely makes my day!

2. I LOVE that Mady is such a good sleeper.  I SOO appreciate how well she sleeps because I know that when we hopefully have another child, that one might not be as awesome in the sleep department.  She takes amazing naps and sleeps till 8:30 in the morning usually.   Miss Mady you're definitely spoiling us!

3. I LOVE that Mady has such an easy-going personality.  She smiles all the time unless she is tired and needing a nap. (Or unless I pull out the camera..silly baby!)  I love that she is a happy baby and pray that her content personality will continue throughout her life.

4.  I LOVE that Mady likes to play by herself but also likes to be cuddled some too.  She enjoys playing with her toys on the floor while mom tries to get a few things done but she also wants to be snuggled before bed.  Our snuggle time is perhaps the best part of my day!

5.  I LOVE being Mady's mom and getting to stay home with her.  I love being able to watch her grow and develop.  I love that I get to be home with her each day and never have to miss any of the small moments that make being a mom so special.

 5 Months
Length: 26 inches (This is just an estimate)
Weight: 13 lbs 2 oz

Eating cereal...

Mady had her first tastes of cereal last Monday. She did really good!  The only time she cried was when she almost spilt her cereal out of her bowl and her parents may or may not of overreacted :-)  Actually Mady girl has a tender heart and anytime we yell at a basketball game on TV or make any sudden loud sounds, she gets scared.  You would think she would be use to loud sudden sounds living with her fur sister, Lexi and all...
Hmm...what's in that bowl???

First Bites!

This bib tastes pretty good...

Mom and Dad scared me!!
